Item:283319816958Rare! Antique Victorian Very Early Sanderson Silk on Linen sample 110cm x 127cmThis is by far the oldest piece of Sanderson fabric that I have come across to date.Dating from around the turn of the last century - late Victorian. This is from the first era of Sanderson having fabrics, and was probably imported from France before they wove their own. The selvage edge is different from more recent fabrics, with the old logo 'Sanderson Fabrics' stencilled on.Beautiful colours - very old world French, in warm pinky nude-beige with ivory and gold. the definition of the embroidered sections is excellent.Baroque pattern of song birds sitting amongst foliage on a rococo swagged urn/vase. This pattern does not have a name on the selvage - it's too early a piece for thatThe actual weave is perfect with no plucks or flaws. But please note that there are marks on this. The marks resemble tea stains. I have included a photograph with the marks ringed in black to show where they are. I have not tried cleaning these out as I am not a specialist and I may do more damage than good!Size of sample is 110cm by 127cmCondition:There are some marks on the fabric, please see photos and full description, Product:Sample, Material:Brocade, Style/ Origin:Victorian
